An excellent opportunity is available for a Change Manager to join the IT department at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position
- The successful adoption of new technologies, processes and systems within an organisation relies on effective change management. The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute is seeking a Change Manager to join the Research Data Governance and Management (RDGM) Project team. The RDGM project will deliver a multi-year program of work to revolutionise the way research data is governed and managed across WEHI. The program of work will seek to deliver new or improve existing research data governance and management technologies and tools, standardise existing research data management practices, integrate systems where appropriate, and uplift process, documentation and user training.
- Research data is core to the underlying research and discovery process. Its associated metadata is currently managed at lab and department level across various silos at WEHI - from researchers to professional services staff (responsible for governance and compliance), to Information Technology Services (managing the physical storage requirements). WEHI has recognised an opportunity to unlock the inherent value lying in dormant data by integrating the metadata from these research data silos into a single WEHI-wide source of truth.
- This role will drive change management activities from end-to-end. You will continuously monitor the Institute’s and its researchers’ change readiness and develop interventions tailored to the impacts of proposed changes. You will develop an actionable and targeted change management plan, including an engagement and communications plan, and training plan. As part of a small project team, you will provide communications support to the RDGM program and drive training initiatives, including the development of communications and training materials suitable for a range of audiences.
- The Change Manager will work closely with the Research Data Project Manager and Solution Architect particularly to ensure effective implementation of a range of project deliverables, from frameworks, policies and processes to digital solutions. It is expected that the Change Manager will work across various Institute projects, such as the Research Data Storage project, to ensure alignment of strategic institute initiatives.

Selection Criteria

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- 10+ plus years industry experience, with a minimum of 3 years in change ownership role in large or complex organisations ideally as part of digital transformation projects-
- Experience of working within, influencing within, and networking within a research focused environment-
- Conversant with business requirements and benefits analysis methodologies-
- Degree in a related field strongly preferred combined with significant relevant experience-
- Developing governance practices to track and measure the quality of services, and maintain service improvement plans-
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to confidently present to senior executives and change advocates-
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, exercise judgment and initiative to identify and rectify problemsDesirable Knowledge and Skills:
- A deep understanding of the process and data flows within a typical research project lifecycle-
- A good understanding, or ability to quickly come up to speed, on RDGM best practice and the solution vendor landscape and how other research organisations are deploying themPersonal Qualities:

This position is available for 2 years in a full-time capacity with the possibility for extension in a full time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 8 ($106,008 - $ 114,740). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
