Role Scope
**In the role of the Policy Manager you will**: 1. Develop strategic partnerships across government and non-government sectors and with other stakeholders.
2. Lead policy development and stakeholder engagement working collaboratively with other members of the project team and across the department in a flexible agile approach.
3. Play a key role in identifying emerging policy issues affecting the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders opportunities for the department and provide advice to government on strategy development.
4. Progress the government's policy program to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the department, through effective leadership and management.
5. Lead and develop project management processes.
**Your key responsibilities**:
- Provide high level strategic advice to senior management on a broad range of strategic policy issues, projects and initiatives relating to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.
- Lead and manage complex policy projects to ensure the strategic goals and objectives of the Department and the Government are achieved, including conducting policy analysis, research, development and evaluation of policy options and preparation of policy advice.
- Undertake effective consultation with key stakeholders from across Government, non-Government community organisations and communities on policy matters.
- Prepare submissions, briefs, ministerial and departmental correspondence, answers to Parliamentary Questions on Notice, notes on Cabinet Submissions and policy advice for the Minister and senior departmental officers within the Department.
- Represent the agency in consultations and forums with a broad range of stakeholders, including executives, governance committees, working groups and consultancies, both internal and external to the department.
- Provide strong and effective leadership through mentoring, coaching and development to ensure a high level of client service is provided across the agency.
- All staff are responsible for identifying, managing and reporting risks relating to their work with DSDSATSIP.
