The City of Melville has an exciting Planning Officer opportunity in its Statutory Planning team.

This position will provide the right person with interesting and varied professional planning opportunities to work within a brownfield/infill environment, supported by a local planning policy framework including Activity Centre Plans and a Local Planning Strategy designed to deliver growth and diversity.

**About you**

You are an engaged planner known for your positive energy and drive. You work effectively in both autonomous and team settings.

You have relevant tertiary qualifications and experience to support you working on a range of statutory planning matters. You will have sound knowledge of interpreting drawings, plans and policies, and are able to work with planning software products.

**Skills and Experience Required**:

- Experience in interpreting drawings, maps and plans
- Experience in researching and investigating planning related matters
- Experience in developing and maintaining policies and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of planning policy framework
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Sound organisation and time management skills
- Sound customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Essential - Tertiary qualification in Town Planning
- Preferred - Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
- Desirable - White Card
- Desirable - Experience in Local Government, State Government or Planning Consultancy.
