About us As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners. Purpose of the role The Corporate Governance unit is responsible for establishing, monitoring and administering corporate governance, policy and procedures as well as the QFES governance committee structure, including relationship management and ensuring fiscal, procurement and fraud corruption control strategies are in place across the department. In addition, the Blue Cards team delivers assurance that the organisation's obligations under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (the Act) and other Queensland Government or Commonwealth policies for child safety are being met and can be demonstrated and reported on at any time. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements - Government purchasing qualification (level 1). - Knowledge or skills in the use of SAP HR or Finance systems. Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: - Provide high standard and confidential administrative support services, including research for and preparation of correspondence, minutes, reports, presentations and other materials as required. - Undertake general office duties, including filing, photocopying, incoming and outgoing mail, and the maintenance of office equipment, resources and supplies to support unit functions. - Provide professional and timely customer support services and attend to enquiries by offering advice and information to ensure clients compliance and obligations are met under the blue card legislation. - Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of financial documentation as required in line with departmental procedures. - Liaise and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external clients and stakeholders to support key processes and the delivery of unit outcomes. - Contribute to the ongoing improvement of administrative processes and procedures to ensure quality, accuracy and efficiencies to support unit objectives. - Work autonomously using a high level of initiative and self-motivation to perform duties responsibly and assist in the efficient and effective management of the office, resolving issues when required.
