The Parliamentary Counsel’s Office (PCO) provides the Government with a comprehensive and integrated range of high quality services for the drafting of, and access to, legislation and the giving of advice and information about legislation. As the Communication and Engagement Officer you will be engaged in the creation, maintenance and distribution of internal and external communications material and Governance documents.

**This role is for you if**:

- You have demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to tailor communications for different audiences.
- Are a strategic and creative thinker with the ability and experience to provide excellent customer-focused communications in a small Public Sector Agency or similar.
- Have excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
- Are competent in the management of a variety of social media platforms.
- Have proven skills in maintaining content for websites and intranets.
- You have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy being part of a dynamic team.
- Must have the ability to successfully establish and build relationships with senior leaders.
- Have tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, or equivalent relevant experience.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Consult and collaborate with the PCO Leadership Team and internal and external stakeholders to develop, and ultimately lead, the delivery of a range of proactive and responsive communication and engagement strategies aligned with PCO’s objectives.
- Draft and prepare for the Parliamentary Counsel’s review, materials and content for publication on the PCO website, social media channels or for communicating via other appropriate vehicles in support of efforts to effectively communicate and promote PCO activities and general engagement with external stakeholders.
- Project-manage the preparation of PCO’s Annual Report and strategic plans.
- As required, support the Parliamentary Counsel in relation to the preparation of speeches, briefings, and responses to community enquiries relevant to PCO’s activities.
- Propose, develop and, as required, lead, or otherwise contribute to the implementation of approved strategies to more broadly engage with external stakeholders (for example, support facilitation of training for external stakeholders and other events and external stakeholder surveys).
- Develop policies, procedures, and systems to ensure quality and consistency of communication and engagement-related activities (for example, style guides).
