**Job Description:**

The Laboratory Operations Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of our teaching laboratories. As part of the School of Chemistry team, you will work closely with academic staff, laboratory demonstrators, and students to provide high-quality technical support.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Contribution to the efficient running of teaching laboratories through timely preparation and turnaround of practical classes
  • Technical assistance to staff and students, including demonstration of common techniques and equipment operation
  • Induction, instrument training, and troubleshooting for staff and students
  • Sourcing and maintaining equipment, instruments, or chemicals for laboratory teaching classes, considering cost and availability
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory documentation, including safety records and inventory management
  • Identification and resolution of laboratory infrastructure issues, escalating as necessary
  • Scheduling laboratory equipment usage and instrumentation, including internal booking requirements
  • Acting as the first aid officer and maintaining relevant training certifications

**Requirements:**

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through education, training, or experience
  • Extensive understanding of chemistry and/or experience working in a chemistry teaching laboratory
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience using IT-based laboratory management systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective record-keeping skills, including attention to detail
  • Proven experience working independently and within a high-performing team
  • A current first aid certification or willingness to obtain

**Salary and Benefits:**

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $96,000 per annum, plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading. You will also have access to a range of benefits, including flexible work options and professional development opportunities.
