Home Care Assistant Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time role with Churches of Christ in Townsville.

About the Position

As a senior home care assistant, you will support clients to ensure a safe and high-quality life while living in their own homes. Your duties will involve assisting with daily activities, medication management, and promoting independence, all while adhering to our Positive Wellbeing Model of Care.

This role offers variety and flexibility, combining hands-on client support with office-based responsibilities.

  • Providing personal care (e.g., showering, dressing, toileting)
  • Assisting clients with medication
  • Availability from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Supporting domestic tasks and meal preparation
  • Offering social support, including transport and outings
  • Monitoring client wellbeing and updating care plans
  • Mentoring and training home care assistants
  • Upholding the Positive Wellbeing Model of Care
The Ideal Candidate
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
  • Completion of key units: HLTHPS006 - Assist client with medication, HLTAAP001 – Recognise healthy body systems, CHCCCS031 – Provide individualised support.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a direct care role
  • Up-to-date and current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Current driver's licence and comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • A commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
