Family Support Specialist - Child and Family Welfare
Job Description:We are seeking a skilled Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a Family Support Specialist, you will work with families to build their capacity to care for and protect their children. You will provide practical family support strategies to strengthen parenting skills and promote a positive family environment.
You will also assist in the facilitation of parenting education groups and workshops, providing culturally appropriate and flexible early intervention family support strategies. Additionally, you will maintain clients' files in accordance with program procedures and develop effective relationships with community services.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Certificate IV or higher in Community Services (or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to apply feedback in creative and flexible ways to support household and child management
- Highly developed communication skills for working with diverse clientele
- Knowledge and understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Ability to describe family functioning in various cultural and social contexts
- Experience in conducting safety and risk assessments with vulnerable families
