Early Parenting Specialist Opportunity

This position involves delivering high-quality child and family health services to families caring for children 0-3 years of age within a specialist service. The role requires working in partnership with an Aboriginal Health Worker to establish key connections and opportunities for collaboration with local service providers to improve pathways to care and support for families.

The Early Years Parenting Service (EYPS) is provided from a fit-for-purpose van, visiting towns of lower population density within a designated area on a rotational basis. This unique service model provides greater access to care and support for families experiencing complex early parenting difficulties.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team to provide individual consultations, group programs, and community engagement activities. They will use a strength-based and wellness focus, building on parental confidence and skills through the provision of information, education, resources, guidance, and role modelling safe responsive care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing quality child and family health services to families
  • Working in partnership with an Aboriginal Health Worker
  • Establishing key connections and opportunities for collaboration with local service providers
Requirements

To be successful in this role, applicants must have:

  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Child and Family Health
  • Understanding of and commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Demonstrated experience in attending to the physical, social, and emotional needs of children and their families
