Family Support Specialist

This role is situated in the Eastern Region, working with a multidisciplinary team to support families and prevent children from entering or re-entering care.
The Victorian Family Preservation and Reunification Program aims to provide intensive intervention and sustained service support to at-risk families. The program includes an initial intensive phase and a sustained service support phase, linked to existing child and family services within the broader system.
The Family Support Specialist will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver evidence-based interventions and support families to achieve positive outcomes. This is a full-time fixed-term opportunity until 4/09/2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver intensive intervention and sustained service support to at-risk families.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Work with families to identify and address key barriers to positive outcomes.
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related subject area.
- Significant work experience in a relevant field supporting young parents and families with complex needs.
Desirable Skills:
- Understanding of key child development issues, attachment, trauma, and intergenerational disadvantage.
- Experience using strengths-based, child-centered family-focused theoretical models.
- Assessment tool experience, including North Carolina Family Assessment Scale and Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire.
