About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Business Analyst to join our team at the State of Washington. As an IT Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of IT projects and systems across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Analysis: Gather and document business requirements through interviews, workshops, and process analysis.
  • Requirements Management: Confirm software updates and new applications meet business needs before deployment.
  • Project Coordination: Estimate project costs at various stages to assist with budgeting and timeline planning.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop, review, and implement detailed test plans, test cases, and testing schedules.
  • Communication: Collaborate with technical staff to design user interfaces and system functionality.
  • Problem-Solving: Analyze data relationships and dependencies to guide system updates and changes.
  • Quality Assurance: Validate that software meets both technical specifications and business requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Mentor business analysts and testers on industry best practices and processes.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in business analysis supporting software development, including eliciting and documenting user requirements, analyzing and mapping business needs, processes, and workflows, and creating functional use cases and business rules in standardized formats.
  • Education: An Associate's degree or higher in a related field, such as computer science, business administration, or mathematics.
  • Skills: Proven ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, accessible information for staff, management, and the public.
