About the Role

The University of Adelaide is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Coordinator Indigenous Collections. This is a unique opportunity to work in a world-class university and contribute to the management and promotion of Indigenous collections and archives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management and promotion of Indigenous collections and archives, ensuring effective use and consultation with stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Wirtlu Yarlu, faculty, and researchers to develop and implement strategies for the culturally appropriate discovery and use of Indigenous collections and archives.
  • Support the wider University to meet strategic priorities, particularly the Mankurriapinthi Strategic Plan and enabling the University Library strategic objective of Valuing Indigenous Knowledges.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and dynamic team environment, actively participating in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Relevant knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people.
  • Experience working with rare and special or archival collections.
  • Working knowledge of relevant frameworks including open access principles, and indigenous cultural intellectual property (ICIP) and management of content related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Commitment to advancing Indigenous Knowledges and practices across the University and wider community.
  • Proven ability to proactively build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Proven ability to actively contribute to a collaborative and dynamic team environment.
  • Demonstrated high level cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build productive working relationships across an organisation.
