We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an Advisor - Indigenous Affairs. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract opportunity that will focus on our Wimmera project, requiring regular fieldwork and meetings in the region.
Key Responsibilities- Develop strong relationships with Traditional Owner groups, representative bodies, and corporations.
- Support the development and delivery of the Cultural Heritage Management Plan within budget and schedule requirements.
- Support the development of access agreements with Traditional Owners, providing guidance on cultural heritage management.
- Complete due diligence assessments and approve Ground Disturbance Permits.
- Coordinate and attend on-ground cultural heritage assessments, alongside Traditional Owners and consultants.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to cultural heritage management.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Indigenous studies, or a related field.
- A working knowledge of the relevant state and federal cultural heritage legislation.
- Respect and appreciation for Traditional Owner culture, history, and knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to remote locations.
