Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Urban Planning Specialist to join our team at Careers In Government. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation Department, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our community's parks and recreation spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analyze data to inform planning decisions
  • Develop and implement plans and policies to enhance the quality of life for our community
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and engagement
  • Review and evaluate reports and studies to inform planning decisions
  • Develop and implement survey instruments and methodologies to gather community feedback
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, Social Science, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
  • Three years of experience in planning-related work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and implementing process improvements and standard operating procedures
  • Experience summarizing data and writing reports
  • Experience creating and querying geospatial applications and databases
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting real estate and site development documents
  • Experience with public participation and community engagement practices
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and projects. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
