Underwriter, Commercial Lines Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter to join our team at Allied World. As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting a complex book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, GWP, and expense goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement underwriting strategies to meet business objectives.
- Evaluate submissions to identify opportunities for profit and growth.
- Analyze coverage, structure, and exposures to ensure alignment with corporate profitability targets.
- Negotiate with brokers and clients to secure new and renewal business.
- Exercise underwriting discipline to meet profitability goals and comply with guidelines, systems, and procedures.
- Expand existing portfolio of business by developing relationships with brokers, clients, and new prospective clients.
- Monitor developments and cash-flow of bound contracts throughout the period.
- Liaise with internal departments, including brokers, auditors, claims, accounting, IT, and legal, as required.
- Cross-sell other Allied World products to enhance revenue growth.
- Attend industry conferences and seminars to stay up-to-date on market trends and best practices.
- University degree desired.
- Professional designation such as CPCU, ACII, or similar is desired.
- 1-3 years of material Product Recall and Food Contamination underwriting experience.
- Established relationships with brokers, markets, and companies.
- Successful track record in developing and maintaining reinsurance accounts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quantitative skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours and travel as required.
