Job Opportunity: Strategic Property Expert

The Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Property Specialist to support the management and strategic development of its diverse property portfolio. This role plays a key part in ensuring the effective utilisation of property assets.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage leases, licences, and property transactions to aid strategic asset planning
  • Foster hybrid/flexible work arrangements, including working from home and rostered day off schemes
  • Support budget preparation, monitoring, and delivery for the property portfolio
  • Proactively handle legal and financial issues to ensure timely resolution
  • Analyse property assets and contribute to long-term strategic planning with commercial and social considerations
  • Develop and implement strategic property initiatives, including sales, leasebacks, and divestments
  • Investigate revenue-generating opportunities within legislative and policy frameworks
  • Promote reports, policies, and correspondence on property initiatives and transactions
  • Represent the Council as owner on strata committees and ensure compliance with operational policies and regulations
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Property, Business, Law, or a related field
  • Proven experience in property management, urban planning, or similar, preferably in government
  • Strong financial and budget management skills, including experience identifying and developing income-generating opportunities
  • Proven ability to review property portfolios and deliver development strategies, including acquisitions, disposals, and redevelopment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and property management systems, with strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and within teams, meet tight deadlines and contribute to organisational improvements
