About the Role
The Katherine West Health Board is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Nurse to join their team in the Family, Domestic, and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Program. As a key member of the program, you will play a vital role in delivering trauma-informed care to clients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to develop tailored recovery plans and provide ongoing support to clients.
- Apply trauma-informed care principles to create a safe and supportive environment for clients.
- Offer holistic, evidence-based, and culturally appropriate case management for FDSV victim-survivors with complex needs.
- Educate clients, families, and communities about trauma and coping strategies to empower recovery.
- Deliver culturally relevant health promotion messages through community engagement in remote areas.
- Collaborate with local organisations to ensure coordinated access to essential services for clients.
- Identify increasing risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in trauma-informed care and a deep understanding of trauma, mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing. You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when working with vulnerable populations.
