About the Role

Katherine West Health Board is seeking a skilled Health Promotion Officer to join their Big Rivers Supporting Recovery from Family, Domestic, and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Program. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing culturally sensitive resources and education programs that promote healthy relationships, consent, and positive parenting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver culturally appropriate health promotion activities supporting the Big Rivers FDSV program.
  • Collaborate with the FDSV teams to implement the program's action plan and objectives.
  • Assist in planning and promoting the program at community events, including NAIDOC and festivals.
  • Develop and distribute health promotion resources, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and evaluation.

About You

The successful candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs and activities. Additionally, while experience in FDSV is highly desirable, Katherine West Health Board values employee development and are open to candidates presenting with transferable experience, and new graduate applicants.

Requirements

  • An understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to travel to remote areas.
  • Proven ability to work independently, productively, and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
