About the Role
The Katherine West Health Board is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Nurse to join their team in the Family, Domestic, and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Program. As a key member of the program, you will play a vital role in delivering trauma-informed care to clients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough mental health assessments to create tailored recovery plans and provide ongoing support.
Apply trauma-informed care principles to ensure a safe, supportive environment for clients.
Offer holistic, evidence-based, and culturally appropriate case management for FDSV victim-survivors with complex needs.
Educate clients, families, and communities about trauma and coping strategies to empower recovery.
Deliver culturally relevant health promotion messages through community engagement in remote areas.
Collaborate with local organisations to ensure coordinated access to essential services for clients.
Identify increasing risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
About You
The successful candidate will have proven expertise in trauma-informed and culturally sensitive holistic health care, with a strong understanding of trauma, mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing. Additionally, while experience in FDSV is highly desirable, the Katherine West Health Board values employee development and are open to candidates presenting with transferable experience, and new graduate applicants.
