Trojan Rail is a leading provider of personnel and training to the Australian Rail Industry.
We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Driver Assistants working across multiple site locations. These casual roles provide an excellent entry point into the rail industry, even for those with no prior experience.
About the Role
As a Casual Locomotive Driver Assistant, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rail services. You'll work closely with Train Crew, Operational Staff, Maintenance and Terminal teams, as well as Network Control, in a fast-paced environment.
This role offers valuable hands-on experience where you'll assist in various rail operational tasks while being supported by a dedicated team.
Your Training Journey
- Initial paid classroom & practical training (38 hours per week).
- You'll gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment, assisting in a variety of rail operational tasks.

- Adaptable: Comfortable handling changing environments and challenges.
- Reliable: Dependable in attendance, safety, and teamwork.
- Eager to Learn: Keen to develop new skills in the rail industry.
Requirements
- Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and fitness assessment.
- Current full Class C or higher Driver's Licence (no restrictions).
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes).
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills to complete written assessments.
