We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced academic psychiatrist to join our team at the University of Wollongong.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term, part-time appointment (0.2 FTE, 7 hours per week, 2 years) at Level B or C, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and assessing medical students in psychiatry at the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) hospitals in Wollongong and Shellharbour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical supervision and teaching to medical students in psychiatry
  • Assess and evaluate student performance in accordance with the Student Placement Agreement and UOW's External (AMC) Accreditation requirements
  • Develop and implement teaching programs and engage academic staff to support teaching at Northern Illawarra Hospital Group sites or in community-based settings
  • Build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, academic staff, and healthcare professionals
Requirements
  • Current or anticipated appointment as an Advanced Trainee/consultant psychiatrist with ISLHD (Northern Illawarra Hospitals Group)
  • Ability to deliver high-quality teaching at both introductory and intermediate levels
  • Strong understanding of equal opportunity principles and excellent oral and written communication skills
