About the Role

As a Senior Policy and Legislation Officer, you will be responsible for developing and drafting legislation under the guidance of the Manager.

The proposed Consolidated Emergency Services Act will replace the current suite of emergency services Acts and provide a strong foundation for effective emergency services management.

This role involves planning and coordinating consultations with stakeholders to ensure proposed legislation and policy positions are cost-effective and meet desired outcomes.

You will conduct research into complex legal issues, prepare detailed submissions, reports, and recommendations on changes to current legislation.

In addition, you will provide instruction during the drafting of changes to legislation and outline the impact on Department procedures.

This role requires collaboration with other departments to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and draft legislation under the guidance of the Manager
  • Conduct research into complex legal issues
  • Prepare detailed submissions, reports, and recommendations on changes to current legislation
  • Provide instruction during the drafting of changes to legislation

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, politics, or a related field

Salary Estimate: $100,000 - $120,000 per annum
