About the Role
Level 6 Senior Policy and Legislation Officer
In this role you are responsible for the development and drafting of the proposed Consolidated Emergency Services (CES) Act and subsidiary legislation under the guidance of the Manager. The proposed Act will replace the current suite of emergency services Acts and lay a strong and integrated foundation for effective emergency services management for the future.
The role also plans and coordinates all consultation and engagement with stakeholders to ensure proposed legislation and policy positions are supported, cost effective, and meet the desired outcomes.
Level 6 Senior Legislation Officer
Conducts research into complex legal issues. Prepares detailed submissions, reports and recommendations on changes to current legislation and provides instruction during the drafting of changes to legislation and outlines the impact on Department procedures.

Employment Conditions and Additional Information
DFES is an emergency services organisation and all employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with emergencies.
Certain periods of the project will require work outside of normal business hours.
Employees in this position may be required to undertake occasional intrastate travel (by air and/or road) to support consultation activities.
