About the Role
At Department of Fire and Emergency Services, we are seeking an experienced Legislative Policy Specialist to join our team in developing and drafting critical legislation for emergency services management. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of emergency services.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and draft proposed Consolidated Emergency Services (CES) Act and subsidiary legislation under the guidance of the Manager.
- Conduct research into complex legal issues related to emergency services management.
- Prepare detailed submissions, reports, and recommendations on changes to current legislation.
- Provide instruction during the drafting of changes to legislation and outline the impact on Department procedures.
- Plan and coordinate all consultation and engagement with stakeholders to ensure proposed legislation and policy positions are supported, cost-effective, and meet desired outcomes.
Employment Conditions and Additional Information
This is a Level 6 position that requires working collaboratively as part of a dynamic team. Employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with emergencies, with certain periods requiring work outside regular hours.

The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $110,000 and $140,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
