About the Role
">Barnardos Australia is a leading children's social care agency, focused on building relationships between children, young people, their families and the community. We are seeking an experienced Case Manager to join our team in the Yurungai Child and Family Service based in Marrickville 2204.
">This position is targeted for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We strongly encourage applicants from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background to apply. Non-Aboriginal people are also encouraged to apply.
">The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking primary case work and delivering a service to children and families through regular home visiting. They will conduct SCARF assessments of each family referred to them in partnership with the family and other agencies.
">Key Responsibilities:
">- Undertaking the primary case work role and delivering a service to children and families through regular home visiting;">
- Conducting SCARF assessments of each family referred to you in partnership with the family and other agencies;">
- Reviewing progress with the family in an appropriate timeframe;">
- Ensuring provision of advocacy services on behalf of clients to other organizations and government departments;">
- Referring families to external services where appropriate to meet the family's needs;">
- Maintaining a child focus in your case work as well as supporting parents wherever possible to maintain or re-establish their parental responsibilities;">
- Providing practical assistance (including financial literacy assistance) to alleviate poverty and disadvantage;">
- Maintaining accurate records of interactions with clients and following up as required;">
- Monitoring child protection issues, consulting with your supervisor and acting in accordance with The NSW Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.">

- Being flexible in your working hours and meeting the families at a time that is most beneficial to a family;">
- Participating in regular team meetings and contributing to the development of strategies to improve outcomes for children and families.">
About You
">To be successful in this role, you will ideally have knowledge of child development and parenting capacity. You will have demonstrated experience of working with children and young people and their families in a child protection context and knowledge of current child protection legislation.
">You will also have demonstrated experience of working with families in need of support services and using electronic case management tools. A willingness to participate in a 24-hour on-call roster to support kin carers, birth families and their children/young people is essential.

- Ability to work flexibly and provide support outside of business hours as required;">
