Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced ANZ Banking and Expansion Manager to drive our growth plans in Australia and New Zealand. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in expanding Wise's presence in the region, enabling millions more customers to benefit from our services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with financial institutions, including banks, payment companies, and card schemes, to drive commercial negotiations and ensure technical teams have the necessary resources to deliver successful products for Wise customers.
  • Collaborate with the product team to prioritize new product launches, potential product changes, and new features in Pacific entities that will have the greatest impact on our customers.
  • Identify opportunities to grow Wise in Australia and New Zealand, including obtaining necessary financial services licenses, and manage the process end-to-end.
  • Manage and support the day-to-day requirements for our current licenses, both from a product and compliance perspective.
  • Work with the compliance team to understand existing and new regulations, ensuring our product and setup remain compliant.
  • Enhance risk and governance frameworks in the region, in collaboration with the Risk, Compliance, and other relevant teams.
  • Manage relationships with regulators and other important non-commercial relationships, such as government departments.
  • Provide oversight of Wise's business operations, guiding strategy and leadership among various functions to ensure the entity's good health.
  • Assist in preparing papers and reports for relevant committees and Board meetings.
  • Have the opportunity to travel to our Regional HQ in Singapore or to our offices in Europe when needed.

Your Mission

  • Market growth - Identify ways to grow Wise in Australia & NZ, then implement them. If necessary, obtain licenses and ensure regulatory buy-in.
  • Financial services partnerships - Maintain and improve relationships with financial institutions, assist commercial negotiations, and onboard new partners as needed.
  • Strategic initiatives related to expansion - Identify new local ways to benefit customers and implement them, growing our new product offerings by pitching to relevant businesses in target markets.
  • Governance - Assist with oversight of business operations, strategic initiatives, operational risk, and compliance controls.

Requirements

  • Experience in FinTech, payments, and/or regulatory domains, with knowledge of financial legislation, payments, and FX regulations.
  • Ability to get things done, take accountability, and deliver results.
  • Experience building business relationships with financial institutions in AU/NZ and dealing with risk/compliance teams.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to figure out ideal operational and commercial processes with new and existing partners.
  • Excellent external relationship management, including with regulators and financial institutions.
  • Self-starter with a passion for transforming the financial industry for good.
  • Currently based in Sydney.

Salary Range

AUD 125,000 - 170,000 per annum + RSUs + Super
