Job Description

As a mechanical warranty claims assessor, you will play a vital role in reviewing and assessing light vehicle mechanical warranty claims submitted by clients and repairers. Your key responsibilities will include evaluating cost estimates and ensuring repair procedures align with warranty policy coverage.

You will liaise with service providers and clients to validate technical details and clarify discrepancies. Additionally, you will assist in managing and supporting junior assessors and claims officers, maintain accurate records and documentation to support claim decisions, identify and escalate high-risk or non-standard claims where required, and support the Claims Manager in workflow optimisation and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess light vehicle mechanical warranty claims submitted by clients and repairers.
  • Evaluate cost estimates and ensure repair procedures align with warranty policy coverage.
  • Liaise with service providers and clients to validate technical details and clarify discrepancies.
  • Assist in managing and supporting junior assessors and claims officers.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support claim decisions.
  • Identify and escalate high-risk or non-standard claims where required.
  • Support the Claims Manager in workflow optimisation and compliance initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in warranty, claims, or mechanical assessment within automotive, insurance, or warranty industries.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with a sound understanding of light vehicle systems and components.
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to interpret policy documents and apply coverage rules to specific cases.
  • Experience leading or mentoring team members is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the General Insurance Code of Practice (GICOP) or similar regulatory frameworks is desirable.
