About the Role

This 6-month labour hire position (with a high chance of extension) is ideal for a generalist HR professional with experience in government and/or a transport/operational portfolio. The role will provide hands-on support to the operational workforce and front line staff, ensuring alignment between People, Workplace Relations, and Health & Safety functions during a period of change and restructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Partnering: Build strong relationships with operational managers and frontline teams, providing expert guidance on HR best practices.
  • Employee Support: Coach and support leaders on managing difficult conversations and team dynamics.
  • EBA Interpretation: Provide clarity and advice on Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs) and workforce policies.
  • Change Management: Navigate and support the agency through ongoing restructure and integration of People, ER/IR, and Safety teams.
  • Frontline Understanding: Develop insights into the challenges faced by operational and frontline staff, tailoring HR solutions accordingly.
  • Relationship Building: Drive collaboration between People, Health & Safety, and Workplace Relations teams.

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience as a People Partner or Generalist HR professional, ideally in government, transport, or operational settings.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and a collaborative approach.
  • A solid understanding of EBA interpretation and workplace relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to support leaders in managing difficult conversations and team performance.
  • Experience working with frontline staff and a hands-on, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Comfort working in a changing environment with evolving team structures.
