Role Responsibilities:
The Specialist Adviser will be responsible for working on the development and implementation of an annual workplan on matters relating to immigration and asylum seekers and OPCAT.
This includes providing policy advice on these matters to the President, Commissioners, and senior staff.
Additionally, the role requires engagement with relevant communities and organisations, as well as government and industry stakeholders.
Key Job Functions:
- Develop an annual workplan in conjunction with the Commissioner and team Director.
- Implement the plan in a professional and timely manner.
- Identify and respond to emerging issues, including preparation of background briefs and submissions.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders on workplan activities.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of immigration and asylum seeker & OPCAT issues.
- Ability to undertake research tasks, develop policy positions, and provide high-quality evidence-based analysis and advice.
- Leadership and management skills to develop team goals, strategies, and work plans.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write in plain English and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
