
Human Rights Specialist

We are seeking a professional to join our team as a Business Human Rights Lawyer or Associate.
Role Overview
You will be part of a vibrant ESG hub, working closely with lawyers across all offices. Your specialization will be in Business Human Rights matters, alongside broader ESG and disputes work.
As a key member of the team, you will gain exposure to complex advisory and contentious matters. You will advise clients across sectors from resources and energy to infrastructure, superannuation, and banking.
In this role, you will focus on Business Human Rights and ESG practice, while also having opportunities to work on other matters. You will have exposure to various Partners within your practice group and a wide variety of work.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting clients with complying with modern slavery reporting requirements and related human rights policy advice, human rights risk assessments, and due diligence.
Advising on the application of international human rights law and voluntary business human rights frameworks for clients in various sectors, from a compliance, best practice, and disputes perspective.
Supporting clients in understanding and managing ESG risks and issues.
Advising clients on non-judicial dispute resolution mechanisms relevant to business human rights responsibilities.
Assisting with ESG and Business Human Rights litigation where opportunities arise.
Work Arrangements:
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. Hybrid working (60% in the office) is typical, with flexibility discussed to suit individual arrangements.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Experience specifically in Business Human Rights matters, including advising on the Australian modern slavery reporting regime within a disputes or risk and advisory practice.
