General Manager - Underwriting Operations

At Fuse Recruitment, we're seeking a seasoned underwriting professional to lead our Underwriting Operations function. As the General Manager, you'll drive innovation, lead teams, and manage the financial performance of our underwriting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Underwriting Operations function, ensuring portfolio profitability and quality assurance
  • Develop and implement integrated underwriting strategies that support business goals
  • Oversee complex property & agricultural risks, supporting the underwriting team with guidance and risk assessment
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director and product team on pricing, product trends, and development
  • Drive lean business processes and maintain high standards of data accuracy and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements across underwriting functions

About You:

  • 8+ years of underwriting experience in a leadership role, preferably in commercial lines or agriculture
  • Extensive technical insurance knowledge and experience in the Australian Financial Services sector
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach teams to achieve results
  • Strong analytical and financial oversight skills, with experience in risk management and underwriting
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • Passion for delivering long-term customer satisfaction over short-term gains
