About the Role

AustralianSuper's $60 billion Mid Risk portfolio is a significant component of our investment strategy, comprising property, infrastructure, and private credit assets. As we continue to grow and expand our portfolio, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Mid Risk Portfolio Strategy & Research team as an Associate Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Asset Allocation
    • Support senior decision-makers with in-depth analysis and modeling to inform medium-term asset allocation decisions within the Mid Risk portfolio.
    • Develop and maintain advanced models to support the continued evolution of our Mid Risk Mix decision frameworks.
    • Provide expert insights on key issues affecting the global infrastructure, real estate, and private credit markets, and their relevance to the AustralianSuper Mid Risk portfolio.
    • Conduct ad-hoc analysis on specific asset classes as required.
    • Support portfolio management for listed Mid Risk asset classes.
  • Portfolio Construction
    • Enhance the long-term Mid Risk portfolio construction process to set the strategic direction for portfolio strategy.
    • Integrate the outputs of this process into the Mid Risk Mix.
    • Consider the appropriate pricing of risk factors within the portfolio and monitor uncompensated risks.
  • Research
    • Conduct research as part of working groups or individually to support long-term strategic decision-making within the Mid Risk asset classes.
Requirements
  • Strong experience in investment banking, investment management, or investment consulting, with a focus on asset allocation, portfolio construction, or research.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the investment department in a team-based environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional outcomes for members.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting investment data.
  • Expert technical financial modeling skills.
  • Strong tertiary qualifications.
Desirable
  • Experience in due diligence, transaction underwriting, or fundamental investment analysis, ideally within a real assets or private credit environment.
  • Experience in presenting findings to senior management or clients on a regular basis.
  • Compliance and regulatory awareness.
