About the Role

Fuse Recruitment is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our Underwriting Operations function. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for driving innovation, leading teams, and managing the financial performance of our underwriting operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage Underwriting Operations: Ensure portfolio profitability and quality assurance, develop and implement integrated underwriting strategies that support business goals.
  • Develop and Implement Underwriting Strategies: Collaborate with the Technical Director and product team on pricing, product trends, and development.
  • Oversee Complex Risks: Support the underwriting team with guidance and risk assessment for complex property & agricultural risks.
  • Drive Lean Business Processes: Maintain high standards of data accuracy and reporting, ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements across underwriting functions.
About You
  • 8+ years of underwriting experience in a leadership role, preferably in commercial lines or agriculture.
  • Extensive technical insurance knowledge and experience in the Australian Financial Services sector.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach teams to achieve results.
  • Strong analytical and financial oversight skills, with experience in risk management and underwriting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
