Market Development Manager Job Opportunity

Are you a seasoned professional looking to take on a challenging role in market development? We have an exciting opportunity for a Market Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our leadership group, you will be responsible for driving business growth and expansion in the NSW markets.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of the NSW markets through collaboration with customers and business partners. You will establish strategies for business capability requirements, channel creation, and customer engagement in this region.

Working closely with our sales, compliance, and operations teams, you will lead the establishment of a market presence in the state-based energy efficiency and solar schemes. You will build a portfolio of partners, channels, and opportunities to ensure we remain a leader in the national energy transformation.

This role requires regular travel between Melbourne and Sydney, and you will be responsible for working with various stakeholders at all levels of the Australian energy industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing the business plan to ensure successful market entry into NSW as both an Activity Provider in the local energy efficiency schemes and a premier provider of residential and commercial electrification and sustainability solutions;
  • Creating marketing strategies to commercialise our products, services, and solutions in terms of optimal price, terms, and conditions;
  • Building stakeholder relationships at the highest level in conjunction with other senior and executive managers;
  • Developing customer acquisition and retention initiatives.
  • Working with our Head of Development and Head of Sales to achieve the required accreditations to be a recognised Activity Provider;
  • Establishing a network of service providers and installation partners to enable the delivery of customer solutions;
  • Staying abreast of the changing regulatory market, political landscape, and resulting customer requirements to ensure the development of innovative products, technologies, and solutions;
  • Identifying and executing strategic sales contracts/partners and multisite opportunities.
  • Leveraging business partners to develop channels and implement programs of recurring benefit through the delivery of integrated products and solutions based upon renewable energy and whole-of-community electrification;
  • Developing lead generation initiatives that generate sales growth;
  • Managing government, commercial partners, and community stakeholder relationships where appropriate;
Requirements
  • Industry experience and understanding of issues relating to the electricity market (wholesale, retail or energy solutions), with renewables preferred;
  • Experience in dealing with or working within trade-based organisations;
  • Experience in understanding complex problems and designing innovative solutions;
  • Ability to multi-task and possess strong commercial acumen;
  • Curious, imaginative, a sense of fun, and keenness to share ideas and insights;
  • Experience in researching and understanding energy-related policy, and the ability to engage effectively with both strategic and technical policy issues in order to translate them into business development opportunities;
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to quickly analyse large amounts of information to produce succinct briefs, consultations, and strategies;
  • A sound understanding of the present economic, political, industrial, legal, social, and cultural environments and their likely impact on business delivery;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to effectively present in public;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with participants at all levels of the Australian energy industry;
  • A minimum of ten years' experience in business or market development and customer relations;
  • Experience in the energy or climate sector or demonstrated capability to rapidly develop new knowledge and expertise;
  • Completed a tertiary qualification in business, sales & marketing, commerce, energy, environmental or equivalent studies including trade-based background;
