Job Title: Cook

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent knife skills, and a passion for modern and classical cooking techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan menus and estimate food and labor costs.
  • Ensure menu items are prepared according to recipe.
  • Develop new ideas and create a variety of dishes and cook recipes.
  • Discuss events and functions with the Restaurant manager and staff to keep the kitchen prepared.
  • Prepare specialty items, including Indian dishes and tandoori bread.
  • Select, prepare, and cook vegetables, meat, poultry, and seafood for different menu items.
  • Produce Indian-style snacks, such as samosas, pakoras, and veg rolls.
  • Prepare sauces, accompaniments, and soups.
  • Prepare and produce Indian desserts.
  • Present and portion food on plates and add sauces and garnishes.
  • Freeze and preserve foods, regulate oven temperatures, and examine foodstuffs to ensure quality.
  • Select and train staff, demonstrate cooking techniques, and mentor them on cooking procedures.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen premises and follow workplace hygiene procedures and regulations.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including applying first aid if necessary.
  • Follow daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules for all equipment in the kitchen.
  • Maintain kitchen stock inventory and order food supplies as per order schedule.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma of Hospitality Management and/or Cert IV Commercial Cookery is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
  • Excellent knife skills.
  • Modern and classical cooking techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Indian culinary arts.
  • Expert multitasking ability.
  • Well-presented, well-groomed.
  • Great leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Hard work ethic in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to communicate well with teammates and floor staff.
