We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Gooniyandi Ranger Coordinator, working in one of Australia's most stunning landscapes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the operational delivery of the Gooniyandi ranger program, providing strong leadership to a small team of Indigenous rangers. This involves ensuring the delivery of the annual work plan, which includes a diverse range of cultural and natural resource management activities.
Key responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Gooniyandi Rangers, working closely with the Gooniyandi Rangers, Women Coordinator, Healthy Country Advisory Committee, and LSMU staff to develop, monitor, and report on Ranger activities.
An estimated salary of $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience, is available for this role, along with access to salary packing benefits, additional salary allowances, and 5 weeks' annual leave.
To be successful in this position, you will require a tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in Environmental/ecology/conservation Science, Anthropology, Social science/community development or other related field. Strong communication, negotiation, and community consultation skills are also essential.
You will be working in a remote area, so it is crucial that you have experience working independently with minimal supervision in a challenging work environment. Proficiency in administration, reporting, computing, and Microsoft Office suite is also required.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference for First Nations people in the Kimberley region, while working alongside the Gooniyandi rangers on trips to amazing natural and cultural sites, and contributing to the preservation of cultural sites and threatened species.
The position is based in Fitzroy Crossing and works across Gooniyandi country in the Central Kimberley in Western Australia. You will be required to participate in KLC and Gooniyandi events as required, including LSMU meetings, Native Title meetings, regional forums, and the KLC AGM.
