Conservation and Cultural Heritage Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Conservation and Cultural Heritage Manager to join our team in the Kimberley Region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the operational delivery of our conservation and cultural heritage programs.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of Australia's most stunning landscapes, collaborating with Indigenous rangers and communities to protect and preserve the region's unique natural and cultural heritage.
About the Role:
- Lead and manage a team of Indigenous rangers to deliver conservation and cultural heritage projects
- Develop and implement project plans, including budgets and timelines
- Work closely with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and partners to ensure effective project delivery
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies
- Monitor and report on project progress and outcomes
- Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement conservation and cultural heritage strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Gooniyandi Rangers to ensure delivery of the annual work plan
- Work closely with the Gooniyandi Rangers, the Gooniyandi Women Coordinator, the Gooniyandi Healthy Country Advisory Committee, and LSMU staff to develop, monitor, and report on Ranger activities
- Ensure effective day-to-day administrative management of the Ranger program, including timesheets, purchasing, casual ranger and Traditional Owner payments, and management of the Gooniyandi Rangers
- Plan, supervise, and participate in field activities to remote locations associated with completing the work plan and fee-for-service opportunities
- Deliver on fee-for-service opportunities and other projects that support the development and sustainability of the ranger group and Traditional Owner aspirations
- Support on-the-job training and liaison with the Ranger Training Coordinator and training organisations to enable appropriate professional learning outcomes for rangers

Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Anthropology, Social Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in conservation and cultural heritage management, preferably in a remote area
- Proven track record of successful project delivery and team leadership
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with ability to work effectively with Indigenous communities and stakeholders
- Experience in budgeting, planning, grant writing, reporting, and acquittals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Cloud
