About the Role

As a Diabetes Nurse Educator, you will be part of a small multidisciplinary team providing expert delivery of safe, evidence-based clinical care to individuals with Type 1, Type 2, GDM, and IGT diabetes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver individual and group education and counseling for people with diabetes and their support networks.
  • Travel to rural and remote areas in the Northern Territory to provide diabetes education as part of a coordinated effort with medical and allied health staff.
  • Oversee the identification and development of diabetes educational resources tailored to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Liaise with General Practitioners and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Contribute to the delivery of cardiac rehabilitation programs alongside the Cardiac Educator.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Diabetes Education or related field; Credentialed Diabetes Educator status is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering comprehensive diabetes education.
  • Familiarity with adult education principles, presentation skills, behavior change models, and group education methodologies.
  • Ability to participate in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and resource development.
What We Offer

A competitive salary package up to $123,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Additional benefits include:

  • Relocation assistance of up to $3,500.
  • Remote allowance.
  • Five weeks' annual leave plus a Christmas shutdown period.
  • The opportunity to work in Darwin with potential for remote travel.
  • Eligibility for professional development grants through NT PHN.
