Executive Chef Assistant

About the Role:
The position of Executive Chef Assistant is a key role within our culinary team at Sofitel. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef with the operation of the kitchen, ensuring that food standards, preparation, ordering, presentation, and cooking techniques are carried out according to established recipes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision of the Kitchen: In the absence of the Executive and Sous Chefs, you will be responsible for supervising the kitchen team to ensure that all food preparation and presentation meet the highest standards.
- Menu Preparation and Ordering: You will assist the Executive Chef with menu preparation and ensure that adequate supplies are available for expected service.
- Liaison with Restaurant Team Members: You will liaise with restaurant team members regarding the availability of menu items, additions to the menu, and any relevant changes.
- Cost Control and Presentation: You will maintain excellent presentation standards and cost control for all food and beverage outlets, with a focus on minimizing wastage.
- Housekeeping and Maintenance: You will ensure that all working areas are clean and tidy.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Trade Qualification: You must be trade qualified with experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Food Safety Knowledge: You must have sound knowledge of food safety requirements in Australia.
- Product Knowledge: You must have strong product knowledge with a passion for presentation.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: You must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Service Orientation: You must be service-oriented with an eye for detail.
- Flexibility: You must be flexible to work a rotating roster, including mornings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Additional Information:
The salary for this full-time role is $73,210 plus superannuation. As a member of the Accor group, you will also be eligible for the ALL Heartists program, which provides employees with preferential rates in hotels and exclusive discounts with a wide range of partners.
