About the Role

The Australian Football League (AFL) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Participation Growth Manager to lead and guide our participation workforce in the Sydney City region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing tactical growth, transition, and retention strategies across all participation products, including NAB AFL Auskick, Schools, NAB AFL Superkick, and AFL Nines.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Develop and Implement Growth Strategies: Design and implement tactical growth, transition, and retention strategies across all participation products in coordination with all NSW/ACT game development functions.
  2. Lead and Guide Local Participation Staff: Lead and guide local participation staff to deliver operational excellence in all facets of program delivery to ensure a quality experience for every participant.
  3. Ensure Sustainable Growth Outcomes: Ensure that all programming is designed to achieve sustainable growth outcomes for the AFL.
  4. Establish and Deliver Growth Plans: Establish and deliver growth plans for AFL Sydney Junior clubs within the designated regions.
  5. Drive Strategic Outcomes: Using data via platforms including Salesforce, Tableau, and Deputy to understand the challenges and opportunities specific to your geographical areas and drive strategic outcomes specific to participation growth and staffing in the designated sub-region.
  6. Provide Coaching and Education: Provide coaching, and education to all Participation Leads, Coordinators, and the casual workforce to enhance capability and best practice delivery standards.
  7. Collaborate with Functional Leads: Collaborate with Functional Leads to align with State and National strategies to deliver objectives driving growth across the Women & Girls and Diversity & Inclusion sectors.
  8. Collaborate with Community Football Team: Collaborate internally with the Community Football team, to understand the challenges and opportunities in Community clubs and drive actions to support growth and transition of participants between the ages 4-12.
  9. Lead Diverse Thinking and Planning: Lead diverse thinking and planning to ensure we are attracting new markets to our game.
  10. Manage Budget and Meet Financial Targets: Manage the budget and meet financial targets in the sub-region.
  11. Contribute to Key Projects: Contributing to key projects within and outside of core role and supporting and contributing to the success of the broader team.

  1. Experience in Leading and Developing High-Performance Teams: Experience in leading and developing high-performance teams, including experience in motivating and influencing outcomes.
  2. Problem-Solving and Quality Solutions: Ability to identify problems and provide quality solutions.
  3. Technical Savviness: Technically savvy and able to work with systems, previous experience with Customer Relationship Management systems would be beneficial.
  4. Autonomy and Organization: Ability to work autonomously with strong organization and planning skills.
  5. Excellent Relationship and Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent relationship and stakeholder engagement.
