The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced and strategic National Commercial Manager to lead the development and implementation of our organisational wide commercial framework. This role plays a critical part in embedding strong commercial governance, uplifting capability, and driving profitability across our operations nationally.
As a trusted partner to senior leaders and project teams, you will provide expertise in contract management, risk mitigation, and financial performance, ensuring we deliver sustainable growth and value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the design, implementation, and embedment of a national commercial risk and governance framework
- Oversee contract lifecycle management, including negotiation of major contracts, joint ventures, and complex agreements
- Provide leadership on insurance, compliance, and financial risk management
- Drive financial performance through standardized project controls, cost tracking, and accurate forecasting
- Collaborate with operations, tendering, and business development teams to strengthen profitability and project outcomes
- Champion operational excellence by embedding tools, processes, and reporting across the organisation
- Mentor and support regional teams to build commercial capability and confidence in decision making
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)
- Extensive senior commercial management experience in construction, utilities, or infrastructure services ideally
- Proven success managing large-scale projects ($100M+), complex contract models (e.g., TOCC, Joint Ventures, Alliances), and governance frameworks
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to partner across all levels of an organisation
- A track record of mentoring, educating, and building capability within project and operational teams
