The Social Work Department provides care across the continuum from emergency departments through bed-based services and ongoing ambulatory care on all three campuses of Austin Health.

About the Role
This Grade 3 Social Worker role involves providing operational leadership and clinical support as well as direct clinical social work services to patients across one or more of our Austin Health sites.
A typical day will see you working clinically with patients, attending family meetings and non-clinical meetings, and undertaking other duties that support the social work department and its operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing leadership and support for the operations in the Social Work Department
- Applying social work knowledge and skills to assess, treat, support and plan the discharge of patients
- Providing counseling to patients and families
- Supervising grade 1 Social Workers
- Supervising Social Work students
- Participating in quality improvement, service improvement and/or research
What We're Looking For
You must have a degree in Social Work and be eligible for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Previous experience in a hospital or health-related setting is also required.
Salary Package
The salary package includes a generous annual salary of around $95,000 AUD per year, plus additional benefits such as meal and accommodation allowances, and five weeks' annual leave (pro rata for part-time employees).
