Job Description

Job Title: Claims Coordinator

Department: Claims Assessing

Location: Sydney

Reporting To: Claims Administration Manager

Description:

Hannover Re is a leading reinsurer with a strong presence in the Life & Health market in Australia and New Zealand. We are seeking a skilled Claims Coordinator to join our team in Sydney.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate end-to-end administration on all primary insurance claims processing.
  2. Review claim information and accurately interpret policy to determine claim eligibility within delegated authority.
  3. Adhere to team SLA's and accurately record claim details.
  4. Request medical reports and arrange medical appointments.
  5. Liaise with external service providers and clients via telephone and written communication.
  6. Process claim payments, ensuring calculations & payment letters are correct.
  7. Assess and pay Death claims within delegated authority.
  8. Collate documentation and complete general administration duties, including photocopying and filing.
  9. Support the processing of direct in-house funeral bordereaux and other direct claims.
  10. Identify risk of fraud, potential and observed regulatory/legal breaches, processing gaps and contribute to process improvement opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. Basic to medium level Excel skills.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of the Life Insurance Code of Practice and Claims Handling AFSL obligations.
  3. Experience working with a Claims Management System (CMS) & processing payments.
  4. Technical knowledge in policy application and claims administration.
  5. Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively.
  6. Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal.
  7. Strong analytical, project support and problem solving skills.
  8. Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
