AO3 Housing Officer

We are seeking a customer-focused administrator to fill a temporary AO3 Housing Officer role with a Queensland Government Department. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred social housing and housing assistance services to diverse clients.
Key Responsibilities- Assess property applications and grants, conduct client interviews, and make referrals to support service agencies as required.
- Maintain property waitlists, allocations, and vacancies, ensuring departmental compliance as the lessor in all tenancy arrangements.
- Assist with conducting visits to properties and investigating and facilitating the resolution of any tenancy disputes and complaints.
- Monitor and manage outstanding arrears, rent assessments, pay deductions, and refunds; action sundry debts and collections.
- Manage the maintenance of properties and conduct property inspections.
- Maintain accurate client and property records and file notes.
- Customer service experience with a proven ability to build rapport, actively listen, demonstrate empathy, and de-escalate challenging customer interactions.
- Previous administration experience in an office environment with a proven ability to pick up new systems and technology quickly and navigate multiple applications and screens efficiently.
- Community Services and/or property management experience an advantage (but not essential).
- Proven experience and examples of managing your work effectively while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to embrace new challenges and adapt to change.
- Well-developed, inclusive communication and interpersonal skills that focus on professional, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail with fast and accurate keyboarding skills.
- Positive attitude and team player approach with experience adapting to different work tasks on a daily basis to support organizational goals.
- Availability to work 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday and commence the temporary assignment with short notice.
This role is based at Buranda and the casual hourly rate is $44.49 (plus super). We anticipate an initial duration of 2 months, however, there is a likelihood of extension based on business needs.
