Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia Ability Action Australia Full time

At Ability Action Australia, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities through our comprehensive therapy services. Our mission is to empower NDIS participants – including children, adolescents, and adults (0-65 years) – to lead fulfilling lives.

Position Overview

We take pride in witnessing our participants reach their aspirations. Our approach focuses on capacity building, and we aim to empower individuals by:

  • Implementing a strengths-based methodology to inform our assessments, objectives, and interventions.
  • Utilizing a blend of standardized and non-standardized evaluations tailored to the unique needs of each participant, guiding our clinical decisions.
  • Providing essential Speech Therapy services in environments that align with participants' goals, whether that be at educational institutions, homes, workplaces, community settings, or within our clinical facilities.
  • Working collaboratively with a local multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Key Workers, and Behaviour Support Practitioners.

Our diverse team of Occupational Therapists spans the Southern Sydney to Illawarra region, each with specialized caseloads that reflect their individual interests and expertise. We cater to a wide range of clinical areas, including early intervention (infants 0-12 months and feeding), pediatrics, adults, dysphagia/swallowing, AAC, and psychosocial disabilities.

On a personal note, our team is vibrant and passionate about disability services. We strive to uplift one another, just as we do for our participants. Our team enjoys activities such as beach walks, exploring new technologies, and social gatherings. We welcome family members, including pets, into our workplace, creating an inclusive environment that values work-life balance.

Candidate Profile:
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Speech Pathologist is preferred, though we are open to recent graduates.
  • Experience in the disability or NDIS sector is advantageous.
  • A strong commitment to providing Speech services to vulnerable community members.
  • Desire to work in a fun, collaborative, and supportive atmosphere.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Required Qualifications
  • A relevant allied health qualification in Speech and Language.
  • Current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
What We Offer

Supporting you as you support others:

  • A clinical caseload that aligns with your passions and professional growth, whether you specialize in pediatric or adult speech pathology, or a combination of both.
  • Innovative solutions to integrate work with your personal life.
  • Guidance through complex scenarios via personalized 1:1 supervision tailored to your learning preferences.
  • Access to engaging professional development opportunities, including local and national journal clubs, in-services, and group supervision sessions.
  • Career advancement options that align with your professional aspirations, with pathways for leadership and growth within Ability Action Australia and our parent organization, MedHealth.
  • Recognition of your hard work through various incentive programs, financial bonuses, and time off to spend with loved ones.
  • Comprehensive benefits including Employee Assistance Programs, fitness passports, and generous maternity leave policies.

We value diversity: Our rapidly expanding team of over 3,500 individuals across Australia brings a wealth of experiences, skills, and perspectives. We celebrate these differences and are committed to being an Equal Opportunity Employer, welcoming individuals with disabilities, diverse cultural backgrounds, LGBTQI community members, veterans, carers, and Indigenous Australians.

We are dedicated to ensuring our recruitment process is accessible to all candidates.
