The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team in the education sector, during a period of significant expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pragmatic and business-focused solutions to complex legal issues
  • Advise the Executive Leadership Team, senior system and school leadership, and Board on legal and privacy matters
  • Draft and review contracts, as well as provide contract-specific and general corporate and commercial advice
  • Represent or coordinate representation of the organisation in family law courts and tribunals
  • Support Principals and other leaders in legal issues arising from operational matters, including compliance with court orders
  • Provide legal input on strategic, governance, and administrative matters and source and manage relationships with external providers where external expertise is required
Ideal Candidate
  • Admitted to practice in Australia or New Zealand
  • 5+ years PAE with a reputable firm and/or in-house
  • Experience in family law is essential, and privacy law experience would be advantageous, although training will be provided
  • Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work confidently with people at all levels within the business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
