About the Role

This pivotal leadership position will spearhead the transformation of student equity and disability services at the University of Melbourne. As a key leader, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering innovative support programs, cultivating a high-performing team, and championing exceptional student experiences for students with disabilities and other equity needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational leadership of the Student Equity & Disability Services team, encompassing both emerging initiatives and the delivery of 'business as usual' services.
  • Contribution to the delivery of relevant SEDS Review Action Plan, particularly those that sit within SEDS or require SEDS to collaborate with other areas including student services and faculties.
  • Direct enablement of the design, development, and delivery of new or refreshed SEDS services and initiatives that support commencing and current students to feel welcomed and supported to register with SEDS, and to enact with faculties their Academic Adjustment Plans.
  • Active facilitation of opportunities for the co-design and evaluation of SEDS' services, particularly with students and staff with lived experience of disability.

Requirements

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading transformational change, including the design, delivery, and evaluation of services, ideally in a student-focused or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams at a senior level, including project teams that draw together people from a range of operating environments.

Student Equity & Disability Services facilitates and supports an equitable learning environment for students through the provision of services and advice to students and staff. This includes support for students who have a disability and/or ongoing medical condition, are carers, elite athletes/performers, or are defence reservists/emergency volunteers, or participate in cultural/religious observance.
