We are seeking a highly skilled ANZ Banking and Expansion Strategic Lead to join our team, driving growth plans in the region. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of making international money transfers seamless and cost-effective for all.

About the Role

This role will be responsible for building strong partnerships with financial institutions, leading commercial negotiations, and ensuring technical teams have the necessary resources to deliver successful products. Additionally, you will work closely with the product team to prioritize new launches, identify opportunities for regulatory compliance, and manage existing licenses.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Build and maintain relationships with key financial institutions, including payment schemes, banks, PSPs, and card schemes.
  2. Prioritize new product launches, potential product changes, and features in Pacific entities to drive customer impact.
  3. Grow Wise's presence in Australia and New Zealand by identifying opportunities for expansion and developing strategies to achieve this goal.
  4. Manage daily requirements for current licenses, including product and compliance aspects.
  5. Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure Wise's product and setup align with existing and new regulations.
  6. Enhance risk and governance frameworks in the region in conjunction with relevant teams.
  7. Oversee business operations, guide strategy, provide leadership, and facilitate alignment among functions to ensure entity health.
  8. Assist in preparing papers and reports for committees and Board meetings.
  9. Foster relationships with regulators and other stakeholders, such as government departments.

Your Mission

  1. Market growth - Identify ways to expand Wise's presence in Australia & NZ, then implement these strategies to achieve growth.
  2. Financial services partnerships - Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions to drive down costs and onboard new partners as needed.
  3. Strategic initiatives related to expansion - Identify and implement local initiatives to benefit customers, grow new product offerings, and pitch relevant businesses in target markets.
  4. Governance - Assist in overseeing business operations, strategic initiatives, operational risk, and compliance controls, as well as inter-company SLAs.

About You

  • You have experience in FinTech, payments, or regulatory domains and understand financial legislation, payments, and FX regulations.
  • You excel at delivering results, taking accountability, and getting things done.
  • Experience in building business relationships with financial institutions in AU/NZ and dealing with risk/compliance teams within these institutions is essential.
  • You possess analytical skills to figure out ideal operational and commercial processes with new and existing partners.
  • You excel at managing external relationships, such as with regulators and financial institutions.
  • You are comfortable working independently and being a self-starter.
  • You are passionate about transforming the financial industry for good.

Salary Range: AUD 125,000 - 170,000 per annum + RSUs + Super
