Job Overview

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall management of the hotel's engineering operations, ensuring seamless facilities management and exceptional guest experiences.

This includes overseeing all engineering operations across the hotel's interior and exterior facilities, including systems like electrical, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, structural elements, and landscaping.

  • Lead the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, safety protocols and work schedules.
  • Implementing and maintaining our preventative maintenance program to ensure all equipment and facilities are in good working order.
  • Monitor and coordinate the services performed by outside contractors in accordance with all contracts and service agreements.
Responsibilities

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Planning, implementing and administering an effective preventive maintenance program in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and government legislation.
  • Ensuring the hotel complies with all local codes and regulations related to safety and environmental standards.
  • Conducting ongoing inspections of building and facilities to ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety, Fire or any other pertinent legislation and taking necessary action to maintain compliance.
  • Managing the maintenance budget, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving measures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in engineering, preferably with experience in a hospitality setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering.
  • Motivated, self-driven, with a passion for delivering consistency.
  • Flexibility with rostering and available 24/7 in case of an emergency.
