We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Systems Specialist to join our team in Melbourne, where you will play a critical role in the development and integration of complex defence systems.

About the Role

As a Technical Systems Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to derive, analyse, and manage system requirements to ensure alignment with project objectives and client needs.

This requires a deep understanding of systems engineering principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct requirements derivation and analysis, ensuring alignment with high-level system requirements and customer expectations.

Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document detailed system requirements, including performance, functional, and interface requirements.

Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices and ensure consistency throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting requirements derivation and analysis to ensure alignment with high-level system requirements and customer expectations.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define and document detailed system requirements, including performance, functional, and interface requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining requirements traceability matrices and ensuring consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supporting the development of verification and validation plans to confirm that systems meet all derived requirements.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of subsystems.
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders to communicate requirements, progress, and technical challenges.
  • Contributing to risk management activities, identifying potential issues related to requirements and proposing mitigation strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, preferably within the mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering, with a focus on requirements derivation.
  • Familiarity with defence systems and standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate high-level requirements into detailed technical specifications.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
